The alien text deciphers to “I appear in the interview for studies in Italy”. Italiano sounds cool so that’s why :D I was asked by HEC to appear before a committee of Italian professors in an interview and they were to decide if I was worthy to be admitted in an Italian University. Interview consisted of two parts, first one was non-academic in which a non-professor lady asked me misc. question about Italy. Thanks to Angels and Demons and an extensive research about works of Leonardo da Vinci, I knew quite a bit about Italy. I also mentioned football and the fact that Arsenal had recently beaten AC Milan at their home in a compelling finale but that lady spontaneously said that she did not like football and that it was a boring game. What a moron. Boooo! Of course I did not react like that in front of her and overall she was quite surprised by my exposure to Italian things. She thanked me a lot and asked me to go to the next professor.

Next professor was not too old either, he would be in late 30s and had an aura of the ancient Roman Legions about him. I was expecting a lot of technical questions and a detailed interview but it was never to be. He just skimmed through my file, just confirmed a few facts about my educational career as they were mentioned in my file. He then asked me that do you have any research plans? I was surprised by his question as I had submitted a full-fledge research proposal with my documents; guess they never read it. I explained my research plans to him but his reactions were suggesting he knew little about computer sciences. I guess he was from electrical engineering department. He then said a few words in Italian to the other professor and he also replied in Italian. Then he again skimmed through my CV and my personal information letter. His eyes caught the Leonardo da Vinci word in the end of my personal information letter and suddenly his eyes lit up. He then asked me if I knew about Leonardo’s famous painting that hangs in Louvre, Paris. He referred to that painting by some obscure name that I did not know. I asked him if he meant The Mona Lisa, he said yes exactly. I then talked about how that painting had so many hidden clues and encoded messages in it. I also mentioned a rare known fact about a recent research in which a scientist has come to the conclusion that the Mona Lisa is the painting of Leonardo himself. Professor was quiet surprised. He then started reviewing my grades and started raising his eyebrows on courses in which I had less than average marks. At that moment I looked back at my last 4 years and said to myself if only I had worked a little harder, but there is no use crying over spilt milk and there is no use feeling sorry for yourself. All I can hope for is that I do not have to face such a situation in future and work better in my future studies. Professor then thanked me for being there with a pleasant smile on his face and that was the end of the Interview Italia.

With 300 other candidates along side me and 300 more appearing the next day, chances do not look too great. All I can do is hope for the best.

Mooin TariqMooin Tariq is a legend of a person. I spent 4 good years with him in the university and am proud to have him as one of my best friends. He may not be the most pleasent person to deal with as his nuisance value is always touching the heights of the sky but he has got a beautiful heart. After graduation his hard work and intelligence had earned him the scoop of his career as RF Engineer in Aircom. Ambitious men always look forward to achieve greater heights and Mooin Tariq got another big break in his career with a job offer at a leading telecom company in Jordan. He left for Jordan this early morning. It will be some time when we see our beloved ‘dumbo’ again. We will miss you, you cookie monster! may the blessings of the Lord be with you. We love you.

These are the testimonials I wrote for Mooin on orkut some 3 years ago

” testimonial_serious version 1.01

wat to say abt u moin…….ppl like u are hard to find…….evry human lacks some qualities and moin is no exception but thr r so many wonderful things about this man….the best thing that i like about him is that he is very very kind hearted person and gets angry for a very little duration if so (although he shouts so loud)… he never bothers when someone is joking with him or laughing at him… instead, he likes to laugh and laughs away crazy….. is very good at making fun of ppl in any way but remains in limits…hes an extreemly intelligent gye when it comes up to picking up things hes tought…a brilliant mathematician….he is always in good health and in a nice spirit…when he needs something to be done in a hurry its a worth watching scene at that time…. all in all he is a “shehzada” kind of person.”

Another one:

“ladies and gentelmen … put put ur hands together as here comes the testimonial of an all time bamboo personality…none other than Moin Tariq

this one is just a kind of silly testimonial…serious one is due later.

A tale of a priceless away own goal.

English League Titles for Liverpool: 18
European Cups for Liverpool: 5
Any other more decorated club than Liverpool in Britain: None whatsoever
John Arne Riise scoring an own goal in front of the kop
and giving chavs the most un-deserved away goal: Effin’ PRICELESS !
There are somethings money can’t buy, for everything else there is Master Kop C*nt :P

ROFL :D

Boy that was hilarious to see Liverpool concede like that. After so much hard work in first 93.6 minutes, last thing these mugsmashers would have wanted was to concede an away goal, at the kop end, in the last 20 seconds, to a side that played sh*t football and deserved nothing from the game, and through one of their longest serving players :D I should feel sorry for them. Sadly I don’t.Boohooo !!!

I love the headlines of the morning papers.
Young Riise Pudding (The Sun)
RIISE IS THE KOP FALL GUY (Express)
AV takes the Rise (Daily Star)
HEADCASE (The Mirror)
Rafa’s red faced men (Telegrapgh)

Please don’t get the impression that I have anything remotely in common with Chelsea. NO way. I knew this match would be a spectacle boring to the core and I never planed to watch it. Then sadly just few minutes after the kickoff my internet went dead and for apparently no reason I switched the tele on and started watching. I don’t have any idea why I was watching a football match in which both Chelsea and Liverpool were playing on the same pitch. Usually such a thing makes you sleepy but it didn’t. I kept watching and watching. It was a cagey affair. Liverpool was dominant but still boring. They squeezed in one first goal through their keeper’s legs and I thought thats it. 1-0 and tie is going to Liverpool. They missed the chances to put the game beyond Chelsea once and for all. In 92nd minute I thought thats it for Chelsea and their stupid manager Avram Grant. But it was never meant to be like that. A lame cross by some Chelsea c*nt had brought a spectacular diving header out of John Arne Riise. Top corner, brilliant! For all those who believe in divinity of Anfield and the magic of The Kop, It was a perfect kick in the teeth. They were singing the legendary Liverpool chant “you’ll never walk alone”. Boy oh boy! Din’t they shut up or what!!

In fairness it is deja-vu indeed. Liverpool never deserved to be in the semis at the first place. They never did. They beat Arsenal in the quarters by plain luck. PLAIN LUCK!. It was a tale of two penalties. One that never was but was given to Liverpool because it was in front of the infamous kop end. Other, that was stone-wall but never given in favor of Arsenal. Arsenal played the game the beautiful way.A tale of two penalties As they always do. For large portions of both ties Liverpool never came out of their own half. Arsenal dominated still the boring, tactical, defensive, “resilient”, “majestic” Liverpool progressed through. Arsebloger had this nice image on his blog that day that depicted my sentiments. In the words of Arseblogger:

“To the left is Pieter Vink who failed to give Arsenal a clear penalty at the Grove last week. To the right is Peter Frojdfeldt who gave Liverpool as generous a penalty as you’ll ever see at Anfield last night. Peters, why have you forsaken us?”

Maybe Chelsea will go through, we shall see. That would be just as undeserved as it was in Liverpool’s case in progressing to the semis. Deja-vu will come back to haunt them for sure. As much as I hate it, I can see Manchester United Megac*nts winning it. Of course you never know in football but their chances are in much better health than those of Liverpool, Chelsea and Barca.

I called my beloved friend Naveed at the half time. As much As I love him, it is disappointing that he supports a sh*te playing team like Chelsea. He had a power breakdown at that time and I told him it was 1-0 to the mugsmashers. He was very rightly critical of Chelsea players who still hadn’t turned up. I told him Chelsea are more than capable of sneaking an away goal out of nothing, so keep hope. And that is precisely what happened. I called him again at full time and he was laughing like mad, just as I was :D

I sent the message with text “bakri” to another of my beloved friends; Mooin Tariq. He is a passionate Liverpool supporter. he called me back and our conversation went on like this:

me: “aoa jigger kaisa hai….”

me: “hello !?? … awaz aa rahi hai…”

him: “han ^#@#$^ aa rahi hai awaz…”

me : “suna kaisa hai….”

him: “%$^&*Y*# … #$^* &%&*@#$ … ^&$#$#@&… hai Riise… sari mehnat pe #@$^%$^%^ pher dia… acha bhala jeet rahay thay !@#!*@#”

him: “yar kia &%!@#&@#!@*#&!@ hai ye… %$#@$%$”

He went on like that for five minutes and then I told him to take it as it is. Such things happen. Hope for the best for the return leg. And things like that. And then we talked about his job and other things and he felt better :) Just a while ago I talked to Sheraz, another good friend from university and a Liverpool Fan, clearly down but hopeful all the same. Its just half time, and there is every thing to play for in the return leg.

It ain’t over untill its over.

So there I am, sitting in the office writing this post still smugly smiling deep down to see that lovely own goal last night. Worth watching the boring 94 minutes of football before that, I must say.

Till next time…
